Our company began its operations
Inaugurated under the name of Qualitea Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd, the cultivation, processing and packaging of bulk tea came into inception – with the Middle East being our very first market.
The journey of a man who wanted to make ” Tea ” a medium to bring nations and cultures together, began in 1989, in pursuit of his dream. Traditional blends were re-invented, forgotten recipes were un-earthed and where necessary, new trends were set. From English Breakfast to Raspberry Twist with Rose Petals, from robust Best of Ceylon’s to Spicy Moroccan Fusion and from best of Orange Pekoes to Magic Fruits with Rooibos were un-veiled.
Inaugurated under the name of Qualitea Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd, the cultivation, processing and packaging of bulk tea came into inception – with the Middle East being our very first market.
The bulk export of tea to Syria, Jordan and Iraq was in full swing.
Qualitea Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd. became the 3rd largest exporter of packeted tea in Sri Lanka, while being the 5th largest exporter of tea overall in the country.
With more bounties coming our way, our market expanded from the Gulf and towards Russia and other CIS countries, now also promptly focusing towards individually packeted teas, Private Labelling and our very own brands – Qualitea, Shere Tea and Genex.
Beginning with green tea that was individually packed most efficiently in tea bags, we began to export these in bulk and retail – including Private Labelling and Distributorship by being suppliers of superior grade tea to those of our clients who wanted us to pack these teas with their very own brand names and packaging.
We also spanned out towards Eastern and Western Europe, Africa, South America (especially Chile) as well as North America during the course of this year.
This piece of equipment gave a breakthrough in packaging 100% metal-free tea bags (tea bags which do not have strings attached to the bag with metal staples) thereby helping to elevate the standard of quality and hygiene of our products.
